2009: At the Movies _Valkyrie with Tom Cruise

The art.211, July 20, 2000,  mentions: “The Italian Republic recognizes the 27th day of January, date of the gates of Auschwitz,” Holocaust Remembrance Day, to remember the Holocaust (extermination of the Jewish people), the racial laws, the Italian persecution of Jewish citizens, Italians who suffered deportation, imprisonment, death, and those who, in different fields and camps, have opposed the project of extermination, and risking their lives they have saved more lives and protected the persecuted.
The Italian Parliament has thus joined the international proposal to declare January 27 as a day commemorating the victims of National Socialism (Nazism) and fascism, the Holocaust and to honor those who risked their lives have protected the persecuted.
Institutional  (Quirinale)  celebrations everywhere. The Pope spoke harsh words against those dramatic episodes.

Films on TV to keep alive the memory even among the younger generation and soon, January 30, 2009 the much-discussed film with Tom Cruise, “Valkyrie.”

Based on a true story during the Second World War, the film tells the story of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, who heads a band of conspirators, made the attempt on Hitler on July 20, 1944.

The movie, Bryan Singer , has a cast of all respect including Kenneth Branagh, Tom Wilkinson, Bill Nighy as well as the Cruise character who said: “I hated the Nazis as a child and played to kill Hitler.”
